Though Filthy Little Angels are celebrating their fifth anniversary, you’d be forgiven for thinking they’d been around for much longer. A Quick look at their back catalogue reveals a frankly astonishing number of releases by an awe-inspiring selection of some of the most important and exciting artists of the last half decade.

I have been enthralled with Filthy Little Angels pretty much since the very beginning and have always trusted them as a source for finding the most exciting new pop music from around the world. FLA never disappoint and have introduced me to more amazing music over the last five years than any other label. Thinking back, it’s actually harder to think of the bands I’ve discovered who haven’t had some connection with FLA!

As time has gone on FLA’s output has become even more prodigious, but, far from diminishing the quality of the releases, the records being released on FLA have continued to be utterly essential. Also, over the last couple of years, the label has issued a number of free download albums, singles and eps, including their popular annual Christmas compilations, and, don’t let the fact they’re free fool you, they’re right up there with the high quality you’ve come to expect from FLA!

The range of artists and styles that FLA have worked with over the years is also a tribute to their dedication to tracking down new and unknown artists, regardless of genre.

So many FLA releases have meant so much to me over the last five years that it would be impossible for me to pick a short list of favourites, luckily I don’t have to as FLA have kindly compiled another great collection of songs, taking in a selection of classics from their flawless roster, of course it can’t include all the amazing artists they’ve worked with (that would make it the longest compilation ever!) but the enduring quality of the songs here is a fitting testament to the truly amazing work that FLA have done for DIY and unsigned bands since they first started releasing records and to the treasures that they’ve unearthed for us music lovers!

Here’s to the next 5 years of FLA, I, for one, can’t wait to hear what audio treats there’ll be providing us with in the years to come!
